This is a case of two people belonging to the ethnic minority group Karen, who crossed the border into Thailand seeking refuge from the violent actions in Myanmar. Fleeing from the violence in Myanmar, the Karens headed towards the Thai-Myanmar border, and ultimately were accepted by Thai representatives of the authorities. A representative of one of the non-governmental organizations in Thailand stated: "We are providing aid to the Karens who are trying to escape the conflict in Myanmar."
